Wanda’s Square






Notes

  • H/5.0 mm hook – using an H/5.0 mm hook with 4-weight yarn creates a square that is approximately 12-inches by 12-inches.
  • Ch 4 counts as a dc plus a ch
  • Ch 3 counts as a dc
  • When working dc’s across, 2 dc are worked in the ch-2 spaces of the previous round


Ch 4 and sl st into first ch to create loop

Rnd 1: Ch 4; *(4 dc into loop, ch 1.)  Rpt from * twice.  3 dc in loop and sl st into third ch of initial ch 4.

Rnd 2: Sl st over to corner sp.  Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.  *(Dc across to next corner and 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner.)  Rpt from * twice.  Dc across and sl st into top of ch 3.  Each side will have 4 dc not including corners

Rnd 3: Sl st over to corner sp.  Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.  *(3 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 3 dc.  2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.)  Rpt from * twice.  3 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 3 dc.  Sl st into top of ch 3.  Each side will have 6 dc and one ch-2 space not including corners

Rnd 4: Sl st over to corner sp.  Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.  *(3 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 2 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 3 dc.  2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.)  Rpt from * twice.  3 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 2 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 3 dc.  Sl st into top of ch 3.  Each side will have 8 dc and 2 ch-2 spaces not including corners

Rnd 5: Sl st over to corner sp.  Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.  *(3 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 6 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 3 dc.  2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.)  Rpt from * twice.  3 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 6 dc, ch 2 sk 2 st, 3 dc. Sl st into top of ch 3.  Each side will have 12 dc and 2 ch-2 spaces not including corners

Rnd 6: Sl st over to corner sp.  Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.  *(3 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 10 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 3 dc.  2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.)  Rpt from * twice.  3 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 10 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 3 dc. Sl st into top of ch 3. Each side will have 16 dc and 2 ch-2 spaces not including corners

Rnd 7: Sl st over to corner sp.  Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.  *(3 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 14 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 3 dc.  2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.)  Rpt from * twice.  3 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 14 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 3 dc. Sl st into top of ch 3. Each side will have 20 dc and 2 ch-2 spaces not including corners

Rnd 8: Sl st over to corner sp.  Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.  *(5 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 14 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 5 dc.  2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.)  Rpt from * twice.  5 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 14 dc, ch 2 sk 2 st, 5 dc. Sl st into top of ch 3. Each side will have 24 dc and 2 ch-2 spaces not including corners

Rnd 9: Sl st over to corner sp.  Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.  *(7 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 6 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 6 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 7 dc.  2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.)  Rpt from * twice.  7 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 6 dc, ch 2 sk 2 st, 6 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 7 dc.  Sl st into top of ch 3. Each side will have 26 dc and 3 ch-2 spaces not including corners

Rnd 10:  Sl st over to corner sp.  Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.  *(11 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 1 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 4 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 1 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 11 dc.  2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.)  Rpt from * twice.  11 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 1 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 4 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 1 dc, ch 2, sk 2 st, 11 dc.  Sl st into top of ch 3. Each side will have 28 dc and 4 ch-2 spaces not including corners

Rnd 11:  Sl st over to corner sp.  Ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in corner sp.  *(Dc across to next corner sp.  2 dc, ch 1, dc in corner sp.)  Rpt from * twice.  Dc across and sl st into top of ch 3. Each side will have 40 dc not including corners

  1. Instead of a square can this be made in a line? I do have a blanket going but it's lines,like back and forth,I just love this ! And was just wondering.. thank you very much ❤️😍😘
